Space, as a word or a theme, can have multiple meanings or contexts. Three years ago when we were dreaming up a theme for this show, members were asked what theme they would like for a show. To my surprise, space was the most voted on.  It became clear that “Space” could have sufficient flexibility for a broad range of imagination and creativity. There is the literal, physical and visual space between objects, both negative and positive, geometrical or relational and the imagined world of outer or inner space exploration. Personal or one’s own creative space could be a factor in an artist’s interpretation. Others may have philosophies about space and time or want to create a lived in, sacred or safer space.  This show features all 17 of our members who applied for the exhibition. Below is how they interpret “Space”.

Each artist’s bio and statement can be found next to their piece(s) of artwork as a PDF doc. Please take the time to learn about each artist and their works! To view the piece full screen please click on the image, it will open the art in a new window.
